Fishing guide on a Maine lake at dawn

The Guide Behind the Service

Meet Chuck Towns.

Forty years experience hunting and fishing. One guide. One legacy.

The Story

It Started Before Sunrise.

I grew up in Central Maine, and the water was always there — lakes, ponds, rivers, all of it. I started fishing before I could drive, and somewhere along the way it stopped being a hobby and became a calling. I got my guide's license and never looked back.

In my forty years of experience, I've put clients on largemouth bass in the lily pads, trolled for landlocked salmon in open water, drilled holes in frozen lakes at first light, and called in spring turkeys from ridges most people never find. Every season teaches you something new. That's what keeps it interesting.

I built C & G Gills to Gobbles Guide Service, LLC on one idea: if you're going to take someone out on the water or into the woods, you'd better know what you're doing and you'd better care about their experience. That's still the standard.

Mentoring the next generation of Maine guides

The Legacy

Passing It Forward to Gabe.

The 'G' in C & G is Gabe — the next generation of this guide service. I've been mentoring Gabe the same way I learned: by being out there, making mistakes, reading the water, and putting in the hours. The Legacy is about making sure the knowledge I've accumulated over four decades doesn't disappear when I hang up my rod. It's about building something that lasts.
